Who is Artistic Philippe?
Philippe graduated from St. Louis College (High School) in 2008 in Jacmel, Haiti. He was raised in a Christian home and regularly attended the Baptiste Stricte Tabernacle Church in Jacmel, Haiti. He sang in the men's choir from 2009 to 2011. His mother and father have always been very supportive of his dreams and goals. Philippe had a desire to pursue the arts and was given the opportunity to learn sculpture, play drums, design T-shirts, learn painting, and dance while attending Fosaj Art Center from 2010-2014. Philippe also volunteered on weekends at the Fosaj Art Center to be a guide for visitors through the art gallery and describe the pieces of art and their prices. He graduated from the Fosaj Art Institute in June 2014.
Philippe also attended the only American film school in Haiti called the Cine Institute for Future Film-makers from 2011-2013. At the Cine Institute, he majored in Cinematography. His classes included production and design, video editing, sound techniques, directing, filming, and lighting. One of his short films, "The Bad, the Good, and the Apprentice," was chosen for the 2014 Film Festival Award. He was the Cinematographer for the short film and was the only Cine Institute student to attend the Premiere in New York City. He graduated from the Cine Institute with honors in June 2013.
He started painting rubble art in 2010 after the great earthquake that hit Jacmel, Haiti. Then he progressed to painting canvases, which opened a window of opportunity and creativity. His paintings were put on display and sold at Fosaj Art Gallery in Jacmel Haiti, The Sante Fe College in Gainsville Florida, and Gallery G in Paris France. He puts his passion for creativity and color into every painting he does.
